Titus Andronicus: A Master Class Staged Reading with James Pickering

James Pickering will take audiences through a Master Class experience of Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus. James has been working with these actors, sharing all his years of experience with them and crafting a unique experience for audiences. Join the audience for a staged reading of a Maya Danks' adaptation of Titus Andronicus and a unique peak into the way James dives into a script.

The Titus Andronicus workshop is Jim’s first project for Sunstone Studios. He is

grateful to Amber Regan and Maggie Marks for the opportunity to delve into the

work of William Shakespeare. Jim arrived in Milwaukee at just about the same

time as Robin Yount, having received an offer from Milwaukee Rep to join (along

with his late wife, Rose Pickering) the Rep’s Resident Acting Company. They were

part of that group of artists for 39 years. He remains a Rep Associate Artist to this

day, and will soon appear across Wells St. at the Pabst Theatre in Mark

Clements’s adaptation of Dickens’s A Christmas Carol. Favorite Rep parts

include title roles in Tartuffe, McCarthy, Nixon’s Nixon, and The Nerd. Among

other memorable characters are blind Richard Harkey in The Seafarer, Niels

Bohr in Copenhagen, Hugh Mor O’Donnell in Translations, and Ebenezer

Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, which he performed 450 times. More recently he

was seen as David in “I’m Gonna Pray for you so Hard for The Constructivists,

Robert in A Life in the Theatre for Alchemist Theatre, and Otto the Elder in

Indecent for Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, where he will be seen as Phil Hogan in

A Moon for the Misbegotten early next year. He lives in Bay View with his sweet

wife Tami Workentin, actress and massage therapist.
